Backend Developer (3)

About the role.

Algoramming''s Platform team is growing. We''re hiring three Backend Developers to build and operate the services that power our client work and our own products — REST and GraphQL APIs, Postgres-first data layers, background jobs, and the integrations that glue everything together. You will own services end-to-end: schema, code, deploys, alerts. We believe in small services with clear ownership rather than a sprawling monolith, and in boring-but-reliable choices (Postgres, Node.js, Supabase, Cloud Run). We look for engineers who can write a clean SQL migration, debug a sluggish query with explain analyze, and reason about retries, idempotency, and backpressure when an external API is on fire.

Responsibilities.

• Design Postgres schemas and write reviewed migrations
• Build typed Node.js / TypeScript services exposing REST and GraphQL APIs
• Implement background jobs (queues, schedulers) with idempotency baked in
• Instrument new code paths with metrics, logs and traces from day one
• Diagnose production incidents end-to-end and write public postmortems
• Mentor frontend engineers on the data layer they consume

Requirements.

• 3+ years building production backends with Node.js or a similar runtime
• Strong SQL — you're comfortable optimising joins, indexes and query plans
• Working knowledge of one of: Postgres, MySQL, Aurora, BigQuery, Snowflake
• Experience operating services in production (deploys, on-call, incident reviews)
• Pragmatic with type systems — TypeScript or comparable
• Articulate written communication for design docs and code reviews

Nice to have.

• Familiarity with Supabase (Postgres + RLS + Edge Functions)
• Experience with event-driven systems (Pub/Sub, Kafka, SQS)
• Background in payments, identity, or anything that needs uncompromising correctness
• Open-source contributions to backend tooling
